Returning home in the rhythm of the tides.

A journey to myself.
Returning Home in the Rhythm of the Tides

Hello and welcome to my blog!

This 15 x 15 cm artwork took me on a wondrous journey to myself and showed me once again how beautiful it is to make art. I am grateful for that.

In the whispering echoes of the sea, where the horizon dances with the whisper of the wind, I spun "Homecoming in the Rhythm of the Tides". It is a nighttime excursion into seen and unseen realms.

As I embarked on this artistic journey, the sound of the sea called me to create a symphony of colors and textures. The left side of the MDF board is a dance of blues, greens and earth tones. Here, the deep, breathing life of the sea merges with the richness of the earth, conjuring an ethereal movement that invites the viewer to immerse themselves in its depths. Amidst this seductive dance, a brave sailboat - a bright, bold orange shape - navigates the abstractly patterned waters, a beacon of hope and adventure amidst the boundless blue.

On the right, the artwork takes on a golden hue, reminiscent of sunlight filtering through a forest or glistening on a trove of ancient, hidden treasures. A wood grain pattern gives this area a texture that feels alive, as if it too is a part of the constant, ever-changing natural world. This golden surface creates a harmonious contrast, a serene counterbalance to the stormy sea on the left, suggesting that harmony and discord, calm and storm, are closely intertwined.

Creating this work was like the manifestation of a dream. I immersed myself in a process of fusing the techniques of metal etching with the tangible touch of paper collage, each fragment telling its own story. I then coated these narratives with resin, capturing that story of paper collage beneath a glassy surface to immortalize the ephemeral whisper of the sea and the timeless dance of the tides.

For me, Returning Home to the Rhythm of the Tides is more than just a visual delight; it is an invitation to intrepid souls. It is a call to listen to the rhythms that guide our journeys, to the ebb and flow that favor our return to the familiar and the unknown. Step closer and you may hear the lullaby of the ocean, feel the boldness of the sailboat, and find yourself in the golden embrace of the oldest elements of the universe.

Best regards

Jutta
