Paper collage is an art technique in which a collage is created from pieces or even scraps of paper. This form originates in the collages of Braque and Picasso but was particularly popular with the Dadaists. They developed new collage techniques and also expanded the materials used. This can be explained in particular by the fact that the Dadaists discovered the principle of chance as a source of artistic creation. The collage technique enabled them to work freely with shapes, colours and materials and to astonish and surprise the viewer with unusual combinations.
